À cette époque, l'Allemagne n'avait pas émis de timbres croix-rouge comme d'autres pays. Au début de la guerre 14-18, le comité central de la croix-rouge à Berlin commençait à organiser des donations. Il existe des vignettes à un, deux, cinq et dix Pfennig. Ces vignettes n'ont pas valeur d'affranchissement, mais furent ajoutées à côté d'un affranchissement officiel.

Damals gab Deutschland nicht wie andere Länder Rotkreuzmarken heraus. Bei Ausbruch des Ersten Weltkriegs begann das Zentralkomitee des Roten Kreuzes in Berlin mit der Organisation von Spenden. Es gibt einen, zwei, fünf und zehn Pfennig Aufkleber. Diese Vignetten sind nicht portowürdig, wurden aber neben einer offiziellen Briefmarke hinzugefügt.
