Guten Morgen an alle Kollegen in Truchtersheim.
Hello to all colleagues in Truchtersheim. If you are interested, here is what I wrote about this underwater station that I had the pleasure to visit in 2015:
The only underwater station in the world
Travelling to visit foreign philatelic correspondents or post offices is an activity that I regularly undertake with the greatest pleasure. Taking advantage of these trips to explore the most beautiful underwater world, I also do it whenever the opportunity arises. But to combine these three passions seemed impossible to me, so much the philatelic products are allergic to the liquid element. And yet ...
Discovering Vanuatu (formerly the Franco-British Condominium of the New Hebrides), this country where the inhabitants are "the happiest in the world" is already pure happiness in itself. Diving on the SS Coolidge, one of the most remarkable wrecks on the planet is another. In 2006, Vanuatu Post combined technological innovation and technical prowess by creating the world's first - and still unique - underwater post on Hideaway Island, a few kilometers from the capital Port Vila. A post office was built three meters underwater, in the middle of a magnificent coral garden. A letter carrier dressed in a diver's uniform is on duty for one hour every day, and visitors can drop off their postcards to their correspondents around the world. Outside office hours, a mailbox collects precious documents and one collection per day is provided.
